Slip - In the process of unselfing - Lara Schieber
Slipping, Gliding, Losing, Catching…What do we rely on if there is no stable ground to stand on?
Clay and body merge and embark on a journey of searching for presence in grounding. Isn’t the most reliable source of presence the sensory experience itself? What happens if we shift our attention from self preoccupation towards observational presence?
A remembrance of an essence - the human’s relation towards earth - where body and material become a vessel for grounding, presence and a source of connection.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lara is a performer and movement artist who encounters dance as a context for philosophical and embodied inquiry, playful exploration and a space to cultivate and sensitize the relational body.
In her work she is interested in giving space to the invisible processes and internal conversations of the mind in the human experience, that both shape us, form ground for creative and relational endeavours but at the same time burden and inhibit us. In her practice, Lara aims for a remembrance of the importance of playfulness, where physical and mental exploration becomes a tool for questioning what we believe to be true, opening our understanding of perspective subjectivity.
Her interest lies within the practices of partnering, floorwork and soft acrobatics as well as somatic practices.
After studying dance in Berlin for two years she got accepted at Fontys in Tilburg, where she just graduated in Dance Arts in Context. In the last years she has worked with Collectief Mamm, Jelena Kostic, Anne Suurendonk, Zino Schaat and others while also tapping into creating her own work.
